 Advanced Software Club

Hello everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your summer.

While I have been unable to continue with the Software Club this year, for a variety of reasons, I hope you are continuing to use your software.

In case you are not aware, Husqvarna Viking and mySewnet have been regularly posting a series of Facebook Live simultaneously on Youtube over the past year or so, with at least one event on sewing or embroidery and one on embroidery every month.  These events are recorded and can be found under videos on the Husqvarna Viking North America facebook page or the MySewnet Embroidery Software North America facebook page.  If you aren't on Facebook, you can find these same recordings by going to the Youtube website and searching for mySewnet or Husqvarna Viking.

This month Soni Grint, the head of Education for mySewnet, will be hosting a three day workshop on digitizing logos. I highly recommend Soni as a teacher.

Join Soni Grint as she goes through the steps of creating a well digitized logo.

In Session 1 we will go over how to critically look at the logo and make a plan.  Learn to "break apart" the logo into manageable pieces.  Think about how the finished size of the logo will determine the type of stitches that will be used.  And what the font style in the logo will mean to your end design.

In Session 2, we'll start digitizing!  How do you begin?  Can you use any of the automatic digitizing capabilities found in the mySewnet PLATINUM software?  Or do you need to start from scratch?  And what to do about those fonts?

In Session 3 we'll continue on the Logo journey.  Finish any unfinished parts of Session 2.  And then give best practices for changing size of an existing digitized logo and looking at other examples for inspiration.

You can access this event live by going to https://www.facebook.com/events/483900260857708/ or https://www.youtube.com/live/YOg5f11P-Zs?si=X72bnCjVbkEbbK2m

These events will be recorded so if you can't watch them live, you can still check them out either in Facebook or Youtube.

While you are checking out this event, check out the other events that are recorded there.  I especially recommend anything by Karen Charles or Mickey Hudson, both of whom I have taken classes from in person.  You can search Youtube for them personally as well.

Another source of lessons and inspiration is on the mySewnet website.  From the main page, use the pulldown menu for Studio and check out either Education or Embroidery Software Classes.  While these lessons are written for mySewnet, the steps are usually very similar in the older versions of our software.

If you are using the software and have issues, I am happy to give you hand.  Just drop me a line.  I'd love to hear from you.

Stay safe and well

Cathy Hamilton
