Software Club

Software Club May 2023

Hello everyone, is spring almost here?  I think I've been asking that question for a couple of months now.  Hopefully this weekend.

This month's project is again aimed at anyone with mySewnet™ Silver, Gold and Platinum, Premier+2™ Embroidery level and higher, Premier+ Embroidery™ level and higher.  Those of you with the less expensive packages can join in the fun.

Because of the quilt show on Mother's Day weekend, this month's Software Club is meeting via Zoom on Friday, May 19 from 7 to 9 pm and again on Sunday, May 21 from 9:30 to 11:30 am.  There just aren't enough hours in my days this month.

This month I decided to go back to the basics and we will add a number of smaller designs into a large Aquarium project that is 16” x 16”.  This project is bigger than any hoop that exists, but we can stitch it out on one piece of fabric or as a whole cloth project without seaming.  Once the design is created, we will use the built-in Split Design tool that will split the design into pieces that fit existing hoops with markers to connect each piece together which stitch out to a large finished piece.

Here's what I've come up with:

I'm not expecting you to want to stitch out the design.  This class is instead aimed at showing you different techniques, primarily Design Splitting, using this subject for my example.

In order to get the most out of the Zoom session, we found that having two devices was a benefit. You can use your laptop to do the lesson with me and then have the Zoom meeting on a tablet or even smart phone to see what I'm doing on my screen. If you don't have two devices, you can use two windows on the one screen, but it did take some finagling to get it working properly.  We found it useful that the device with your zoom session has voice capability.

If you plan to join me for this month’s Software Club, please sign up online at our website www.sew-jos.ca/classes.htm so that I can forward you the instructions and handouts beforehand as well as provide the Zoom information.

Hope to see you at the quilt show next weekend at the Cityview Curling Club.  This year it is being hosted by the Ottawa Valley Quilt Guild.  If not, then hopefully online. If you can't make it on these dates, I will record the session for later viewing so even if you can't actually join us on one of these sessions, you can still sign up and access the information.

Stay safe
