Hello everyone, isn't today just a picture perfect day? After the lousy month of April weather, we certainly deserve this.
This month’s Software Club will be meeting via Zoom on Friday, May 13 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and again on Sunday, May 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 because of the Quilt Show this past weekend.
Were you able to get out to see the Quilt Show? The quilts on display were amazing! Being surrounded by quilts all weekend has me thinking of quilts. So I thought that this month we would create the blocks to create the Storm at Sea quilt. This is a classic quilt pattern that is composed of just two different block units which are usually paper pieced. I personally hate paper piecing, and looking at the blocks, I see they can easily be stitched in the hoop instead. This makes for perfectly stitched blocks every time. Only straight lines of stitching are needed and can be created using Frames and Borders. This quilt is really is only two blocks in two different sizes. Once you have the two blocks created, they can quickly be resized to whatever size you need.

In order to get the most out of the Zoom session, we found that having two devices was a benefit. You can use your laptop to do the lesson with me and then have the Zoom meeting on a tablet or even smart phone to see what I'm doing on my screen. If you don't have two devices, you can use two windows on the one screen, but it did take some finagling to get it working properly. We found it useful that the device with your zoom session has voice capability.
