Hello everyone, I hope you are all enjoying these last days of summer.
This month’s Software Club will be meeting via Zoom on Sunday, September 12 from 9:30 to 11:30 and again on Friday, September 17 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm .
With fall on the horizon and the pandemic starting to wane, hopefully classes will be able to start up again soon. I recently saw an ad for a notion that is designed to keep notions organized while on the go. This trivet holds a wide variety of notions in the zippered pouch. When you are at class, snap the corners to create the sides of a holder that can hold the notions you need for class. Once the class is over, unsnap the corners and put the notions back in the zippered pouch! I though this to be an interesting concept, but why buy one when you can make your own in different sizes in the hoop?
So, in this class we are going to make a tote trivet. To make a trivet as big as the product for sale, we will use the Frames and Border tab to create the zippered pocket and add the sides in a Quilt as You Go fashion. The outer edges would need to be enclosed with a binding manually. We can, of course, make a smaller size completely in the hoop and use a satin stitching to enclose the edges.
Here's what I used for inspiration and what I've designed so far:

In order to get the most out of the Zoom session, we found that having two devices was a benefit. You can use your laptop to do the lesson with me and then have the Zoom meeting on a tablet or even smart phone to see what I'm doing on my screen. If you don't have two devices, you can use two windows on the one screen, but it did take some finagling to get it working properly. We found it useful that the device with your zoom session has voice capability.
For the more advanced software, Premier+2 Ultra or mySewnet Platinum versions, we will continue with creating designs in the Create module. I haven't had time to fully think through the class, but I am planning on creating endless designs that can be used for end to end quilting or embellishing. These classes will be on Sunday, September 26 from 9:30 to 11:30 am as well as on Wednesday, September 29 from 7-9 pm.
If you plan to join me for any of these month’s Software Clubs, please sign up online at our website www.sew-jos.ca/classes.htm so that I can forward you the instructions and handouts beforehand as well as provide the Zoom information. If you haven't prepaid for the year, the fee is $15 for the original Software Club. Let me know if you can't find the appropriate coupon code for having paid for the full year.
We are not offering an annual fee structure for the Advanced Software Club as of yet.
Hope to see you online. If you can't make it on these dates, I will record the session for later viewing so even if you can't actually join us on one of these sessions, you can still sign up and access the information.
Stay safe
