Hello everyone, I hope you are all staying cool in this heat wave.
This month’s Software Club will be meeting via Zoom on Sunday, June 13 from 9:30 to 11:30 and again on Friday, June 18 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm .
Summer has arrived, and with a vengeance this week, and so have the flowers. This month I thought that flowers are a nice summery project. So this time we will making flowers using words as the petals and a variety of SuperDesigns for the stems and leaves. Letters can be manipulated into virtually any shape and we explore the menu that can transform them. You can use any theme you like for the words, but in this project we will use sewing terms that can make a fun wall hanging. I think it would be fun to do this using children's names instead to create Grandma's garden for example.
Here's what I've come up with so far:
In order to get the most out of the Zoom session, we found that having two devices was a benefit. You can use your laptop to do the lesson with me and then have the Zoom meeting on a tablet or even smart phone to see what I'm doing on my screen. If you don't have two devices, you can use two windows on the one screen, but it did take some finagling to get it working properly. We found it useful that the device with your zoom session has voice capability.
The Advanced Software Club will be on Sunday, June 27 from 9:30 to 11:30 am, as well as on Wednesday, June 30 from 7-9 pm. This month I'm planning to take a photo of a printed fabric and convert it into an embroidery design to match. We will use the Create module again to make the design using the photo as a background for a guide. I'm planning on making a dress with the print for the skirt and them embellishing a plainer fabric for the top with these designs.
