Hello everyone, this month’s Software Club will be meeting via Zoom on Sunday, December 13 from 9:30 to 11:30 am and again on Friday, December 18 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
With Christmas coming, my thoughts always turn towards gift making. An idea was forwarded to me from Ruth about oven mitts, which is a relatively quick and easy gift to make. (I don’t know about you, but my thumb never turns out right when sewing manually.) They work as oven mitts, but you can also add rice in the lining and heat them in the microwave to use as a balm for arthritic hands. The other advantage is that we can easily make a variety of sizes for different sized hands. In this project we will make a basic pair of oven mitts. There are lots of patterns for oven mitts on the internet. We will use the pattern from warmcompany.com, the makers of Insul-Bright, to create the basic pattern with the Express Design Wizard. We will then use the Quilt Wizard to do the quilting for us. Lastly we will embellish them.
In order to get the most out of the Zoom session, we found that having two devices was a benefit. You can use your laptop to do the lesson with me and then have the Zoom meeting on a tablet or even smart phone to see what I'm doing on my screen. If you don't have two devices, you can use two windows on the one screen, but it did take some finagling to get it working properly. We found it useful that the device with your zoom session has voice capability. |

If you have stitched out any previous sessions’ design(s) please have it (them) close at hand as well, or any show and tell. We all like to see what you have been doing.
If you plan to join me for this month’s Software Club, please sign up online at our website www.sew-jos.ca/classes.htm so that I can forward you the instructions and handouts beforehand as well as provide the Zoom information. If you haven't prepaid for the year, the fee is $12. If you have prepaid and attending, the same coupon code as last year will work. Let me know if you can't find the appropriate coupon code or if you have any issues.
Hope to see you online. If you can't make it on these dates, I will record the session for later viewing.
On another note, in case you didn't read to the end of my note on mySewnet, there is still a limited supply of the Premier+2 Ultra software and upgrading to Premier+2 Ultra from a previous version of the Ultra equivalent, if anyone is interested in doing so. Premier+2 Embroidery Extra version is no longer available for sale, and an equivalent to it is not being offered in the mySewnet software versions at this time.
I am planning to continue my Software Club into 2021. Whether I will include mySewnet instructions in the new year will depend on whether anyone has the software. I will continue to support Premier+2 Embroidery Extra for at least the next year. After that it will depend on the level of interest. If you wish to sign up in advance for the year 2021, you can do so now. You can either sign up online (search for annual), by stopping in the store or calling in to the store.
Lastly, the Premier+2 Software newsletter has just come out. If you didn't receive your copy, let me know and I can forward you the information.
Stay safe
Cathy Hamilton
