Software Club July 2020

Hello everyone,  I hope you are all staying safe, healthy and cool.  Things are getting better in terms of the pandemic, but it will still be a while before things get back to the new normal.  Then there is the heat......

This month's class comes from an idea inspired by some designs I found online.  I will finalize the notes and send them out later in the week.

With the COVID-19 pandemic lingering on, the wearing of face masks when going out in public is now mandatory in much of our country.  Many people are now wearing them all day, which can cause stress on the ears if using elastics to hold them on. With that in mind, let’s make some extenders that can hold the elastics away from the ears.  There are a lot of different patterns and styles for mask extenders available on the internet, many of them free, but where’s the fun in that? Based on internet research, in this project we will create some fun in the hoop (ITH) face mask extenders.  First we will start with a simple design that uses snaps to hold the elastic.  Then we will get more creative and use some clipart shared from the Cricut world.  Finally we will borrow an idea and create pieces that fit on each end of the elastic and then join together.

Here is what I've come up with so far,

These are also created, but you'll have to get the notes to find out how to use them ;-)

If you have paid for the year in advance you will automatically get a copy of these notes.  If you would like the notes and haven't paid in advance,  please sign up online at our  website www.sew-jos.ca/classes.htm so that I can forward you the instructions.  Because we can't meet in person, I have created a software class for covid times.  In the search field type in Covid and you should get the new class displayed. Click on this class and proceed with adding to the Cart, etc. This class is less expensive to balance out that we can not meet in person.  Of course you are most welcome to e-mail me any questions on the notes if you have any problems following them, as always.

I hope this will give you something to occupy your time while being at home.

Stores are now open in Ontario, while still maintaining restrictions in terms of social distancing.
However, Sew-Jo’s floor space makes it difficult for the physical distancing, etc.  Therefore, we will continue to allow one customer in the store at a time as well as curbside pickup for the time being with the same reduced hours being Tuesday through Friday from 10 am until 4 pm.  If these hours are not possible for you, please contact us at info@sew-jos.ca to arrange an appointment for a specific time.  You will be required to wear a face mask while in the store for the safety of all.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Stay safe and cool!

PS: The July Newsletter from the Premier plus embroidery group was just sent out.  If you didn't receive an e-mail from them, you can see it at July Premier Embroidery Newsletter.  This month they are playing with words.
