Sewing for the Young - ages 10 and up

Children, tweens and teens enjoy making their own creations. With the help of the teacher, you will be encouraged to sew a garment that you will be proud to wear. You will choose the project that is interesting to you whether it is a sweatshirt, a pyjama or a t-shirt. Each student will progress at their own capacity. Individual instructions will be given. As they sew, students will learn different techniques and be guided to make it as nice as can be. Perfection is NOT the goal but learning the possibility of using your creativity to make it your own and have FUN! It is preferred that the fabric used for your project be purchased at Sew-Jo's.

Come join the fun to make your own memory bear, using items of clothing from a departed loved one or your child’s favourite outfit that they have out grown. Alternatively, you can purchase fabric at Sew Jo’s so you get comfortable making one before you used your treasured items. This is a four week class of 2 hour sessions with the possibility of a 5th class if needed.
Cost: $ 120.00

Techniques include a simple 9 patch, Irish Chain, Piano Keys along with faced applique. The final class will include quilting the layers together using the walking (dual feed) foot and bind the finished quilt with a half inch double fold binding. Finished quilt is approximately 42" x 55".
